Patrick E. McGrath has been an attorney with Wallace, Saunders, Austin, Brown & Enochs, Chartered since graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1989. He is a shareholder and Vice-President of the firm. Pat’s practice focuses on employer liability (wrongful death, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, racial discrimination, retaliatory discharge, EEOC claims, Kansas Human Rights Commission claims, Missouri Human Rights Commission claims), director and officer liability, organization liability, tort law, nursing home negligence claims, contract law and workers’ compensation. In addition to his defense trial work, Pat maintains a significant insurance coverage practice, representing insurers on a regional basis in a broad range of complex litigation. He represents insurers in coverage matters and litigation under most policy forms, including disputes with their insureds and with other insurers, disputes between primary and excess carriers and bad faith cases. Pat practices in Missouri and Kansas, with offices in Kansas City, Missouri, Springfield, Missouri, Overland Park, Kansas and Wichita, Kansas.

• As Chairman of Wallace Saunders’ Employment Law Department, Pat is personally involved in the oversight, evaluation, and litigation of employment claims.
  

• Pat has extensive trial experience, with numerous trials before the state courts of Missouri and Kansas and the United States Federal District Courts of Missouri and Kansas.
  

• Pat has an experienced appellate court background, including cases before the Missouri Supreme Court, the Missouri Court of Appeals, the Kansas Supreme Court, the Kansas Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
  

• In addition to his role as Chairman of the firm’s Employment Law Department, Pat has been a frequent publisher and lecturer on legal topics, including: “Trying Discrimination and Harassment Claims to Juries;” “Sexual Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace;” “Defending EEOC and Human Rights Commission Investigations;” “EEOC Policy Compliance;” “E-mail and Internet Policy Pitfalls;” “Current Trends in Director and Officer Liability Insurance Coverage;” “Avoiding Bad Faith Claims for the Insurance Professional;” “Ethical Concerns in Bad Faith Insurance Claims;” "Ethical Issues in Insurance Law: Conflicts of Interest, Reservations of Rights and Punitive Damage;" and UM, UIM litigation issues. Pat has been a speaker on behalf of the National Business Institute, the Council on Education and Management, Lorman Education Services, the State of Kansas, the Reno County Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the University of Missouri School of Law and the Missouri Bar Association.
