Douglas C. Hobbs has over twenty-five years of practice in the areas of workers compensation and employment law throughout the State of Kansas. He is a member of the firm's Workers Compensation and Employment Law Practice Groups, and is licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of Kansas. Prior to joining Wallace, Saunders, Austin, Brown & Enochs, Chartered in 1991, Mr. Hobbs was a partner in the Wichita law firm of McDonald, Tinker, Skaer, Quinn and Herrington, P.A.
Over the years, Mr. Hobbs has represented numerous insurance carriers and third party administrators including Cigna Insurance Company, ACE USA/ESIS, Liberty Mutual, AIG Claims Services, Specialty Risk Services, Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc., Sedgwick CMS, Thomas McGee, L.C., Sentry Insurance Company, Zurich Insurance Company, Western Guarantee Fund Services, Broadspire, Accident Fund Insurance Company, and Crum & Forster Insurance Company. He has also represented numerous Kansas employers and self-insureds such as Koch Industries, Inc., Belger Cartage Service, Inc., National Express Corporation, HCA Corporation, Preferred Health Systems, iSi Inc., Sara Lee Corporation, and Anheuser-Busch. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS Mr. Hobbs is a member of the Kansas and Wichita Bar Associations. Mr. Hobbs is also a member of the Kansas Self-Insurers Association, Kansas Association of Defense Counsel, Wichita Area Workers Compensation Task Force, and Society of Human Resource Managers.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Mr. Hobbs serves on the Board of Directors and serves as an officer for Envision, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the employment of and service to blind or low vision individuals. Mr. Hobbs has been a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America, and has served as a Scout Master and committee member.
EDUCATION Mr. Hobbs obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Kansas School of Law in 1986 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the The University of Kansas in 1983.
PROFESSIONAL SEMINARS Mr. Hobbs has testified before the Kansas Legislature on behalf of employers relative to workers compensation legislation. Mr. Hobbs has also been a frequent speaker on the issues of workers compensation and employment law for the Kansas Department of Labor's Annual Workers Compensation Seminar, Kansas Self-Insurers Association, Kansas Association of Defense Counsel, Wichita Area of Workers Compensation Task Force, Kansas Association of Legal Assistants, Kansas Systems Builders' Association, National Business Institute, Sterling Educational Seminars, Counsel on Education and Management, National Association of Women Business Owners - Wichita Chapter, and various continuing legal education seminars.
